The municipality, located in the southwest of the province, is characterised by its countryside dedicated to the cultivation of cereals and dry-land herbaceous crops. Of Roman origin, the village is located on a hill and has an irregular urban plan with whitewashed houses. Of particular note are the Torre del Castillo (Castle Tower) of Arab origin, the Torre de las Monjas (Nuns' Tower) and the Iglesia de la Asunción (Church of the Assumption). However, its most outstanding feature is its long tradition of pottery making, a very important craft activity.
