Alpandeire, which dates back to the 8th century, is a town with a notable Arab-Andalusian influence in its urban layout. Its parish church, dedicated to San Antonio de Padua, dates from the 18th century. The area is known for its legends of bandits, with Antonio Barbarán Jiménez, alias «El Barbarán», being one of the most notorious in the 19th century. Alpandeire also attracts visitors interested in Fray Leopoldo de Alpandeire, a famous Capuchin almoner, and his beatification process initiated in 1961.
